Feeding Frenzy

Daphianna

Another old sketch.

It would seem that this poor hippocampus has wandered into the wrong waters. I hope he didn't really need that foot...

I need to start drawing Kalakri again. Toothy critters are fun. =P

FAQ:
Kalakri were often referred to as "water wolves" by the people of ancient civilizations because they are pack hunters. They will attack anything from whales to sardines, and most predatory fish. The males' job is to pursue and tire the prey out, then the females swarm in, tear chunks away from the prey and bring the pieces back to their trench - even if the prey is still alive. Kalakri are especially dangerous because they are always hungry. They are so driven by their indomitable ravenousness that in just one day, they can consume, digest, and excrete an amount of food that equals up to twenty times their own body weight.
A fully mature male Kalakri can often end its growth at a little over twenty-five feet in length (including the tail). The easy way to distinguish a male from a female is by the fins; Males have a long sail-like fin protruding from the backs of their necks. Female Kalakri are generally bigger than the males; Even big enough to eat them. But they don't because even their hunger can't overpower their instinct to protect their grind . Kalakri look after one another and support weaker pack members rather than taking advantage of them.
