Gogo by DankeShane

Gogo

DankeShane

did some fanart of Gogo from Final Fanasy, just for the sake of practice, basically a sketch with quick sloppy digital coloring over it

was getting tired of an empty gallery, and yes, I know the pipe is a little hrmm-looking, and the knife handle is a little wtf, especially since he uses bludgeoning weapons in the game

I tend to think of him as a sort of arabic ninja/hedgewizard masquerading as a fop/fool/mime. He certainly couldnt ever hide anywhere given how colorful he is, but perhaps the complex patterns and sheer shock value of his visual character is what works in his favor, disorienting people by a, not being able to get a read on his movements or size, and b, breaking up his body mass and leading the eye to focus on those garments he wears which are really bright and garish. hes like draped in tassled fabric and beads and amulets, so he's sort of a walking lost-and-found, like someone got in a losing battle with a wardrobe and came out wearing a bit of everything. I attribute the whole lack of gender comprehension thing that's attributed to his miming merely due to his flamboyant appearance and veiled face. he's really addictive to draw because he has so many different features to his outfit the subject sort of forces me to slow down and focus on translating the patterns and things on his clothing, details, etc., so I often use him as practice for warming up when drawing

Im thinking of doing more of these arabic ninja clown sort of designs as OC's myself, but Ive got an interesting idea for how theyre going to be presented that should make them more interesting as a legitimate attempt at art that i might be able to use as portfolio pieces

he had that moroccan/mediterranean/Moorish/Venetian look to him, so idk. I was just drawing a parallel as far as aesthetics, and thank you for the compliment
