This is a quick little scrap I did of Gearbox without his saddlebags, these arent actually saddlebags but concealments for the small wings. |They are his defect, the source of his shame. He can fly, but he will never be able to truly -fly-. He will never be able to use his own wings to life off, to feel the rush of air through his wings.
He has his inventions, he has his magical turbines which serve as a replacement for his wings to get him off the ground. But he will never truly be able to fly under his own power, a painful reminder he must experience each time he puts those sadlebags on.

Yeah, It is the source of his shame, his pain. His parents are the type who consider thier alicorn status as a reason to look down at others. And him being born with such tiny useless wings added only insult to injury when he was shunned by his parents. So not only will he never be able to fly on his own, but his small wings make him a "shame to the family name" in his parents eyes. So you can see why it is so painful a yearning.

Well that would definately be a pleasant suprise. He is nice enough, but he tends to be withdrawn :p He hides his wings in those saddlebags in order to just pass himself off as a unicorn and minimize his shame. But yes that would be a pleasant suprise :) In the meantime I like Gearbox so I will be working on more pics to show him off.
