Certainly not an "eternal" struggle in the literal sense, as all wriggly prey eventually tires out after some (futile) effort to escape.
Spencer in particular doesn't make it very easy to keep up a dedicated, lengthy resistance when his tummy is so soft, squishy, and perfect for relaxing in... snoozes -ω-
