The Story of Tansnight by Daaberlicious

The Story of Tansnight

Daaberlicious

The story goes that one december a woodworker was in his home waiting out a snowstorm with his family.
This was not uncommon in this part of Eurto- In fact it can be said summer never stays long enough to even take off it's coat.
Regardless he waited out the storm, wife, children and dog as well as himself all comfortable around the fire when subtly he noticed a figure out in the snow.

Springing to action, he opened the porch door and shouted after the figure, making it's way down the road and barely visible-
"Are you DAFT?! Get inside lest you die!"
Encouraged by the kindness and honesty of the gesture, the figure turned back and entered The Woodworker's home.
She was thick with snow and beneath her thicker coat a couple sizes too large, also seemed quite wirey. That she was covered head to toe in fur on her otherwise nude body was
no concern beyond perhaps her percieved intelligence- Surely even embis have the sense to wear more in this weather.

Placed close in front of the fire and given warm and dry blankets to wrap herself in, the stranger from the storm thanked them graciously.
She told The Woodworker she was never in any harm- Being Tansheth, The Goddess of Warmth and Comfort, no storm would even phase her, much less penetrate
her sacred coat (Which by now the children in the home had confirmed, because children of a certain young age will not leave other's things alone).
The Woodworker was a simple man, however, and did not think all hardships must be endured if there were alternatives provided. He plied Tansheth with gifts, perhaps
now out of subconscious worship as he was a man of faith, but mostly because she had no supplies on the journey and he, believing gods were people-shaped, thought they might like food for their journeys.

The goddess saw the warmth in the man's heart and blessed him. "Samuel Tanner, may you always have enough to give- May a needy soul never pass your notice and may you always burn bright with the warmth inside you have today".
To everyone's shock, The woodworker suddenly sprouted a full set of jolly facial hair and after announcing he felt quite as though he should be rounder in the middle, he retreated to his woodshead to work on something.
Tansheth, not being omniscient, turned to The Woodworker's wife and gave her an apologetic grin. "Niema grants me miracles to bestow, but I do not always know the results." Yet before they could inquire further, Tansheth's own constant, holy warmth, filling the room in a cozy way, put the goddess to sleep in front of the fire. Dog and children all joined the goddess in her nap, leaving The Woodworker's wife to blink in bafflement at the events of her strange evening.

The woodworker, as you may guess, is the mythical Santa Claus. Linguists have lost trail of how this man's name was so changed by history, but besides the initial stories of a jolly woodworker anually making gifts for the children in his village, there is no confirmation he was ever immortal, ever climbed down chimneys, or there was coal or stockings or reindeer or any of the myriad rest.
It is presumed the meaning of the story is generosity is it's own reward, though quite possibly can also mean if you're good enough, you too can become a Santa. There are worse things to aspire to.
Tansheth, however, has since maintained a steady tradition of inviting herself into the homes of the kindly and giving them gifts- Before usually falling asleep in the warmest section of their house. It is also tradition that the cuddlers present join her.

Mery Christmas, all!
Butter and the gang celebrate Tansnight with the goddess Tansheth herself! It would be cold without the aura of warmth she provides- Oh, and these fun colorful blankets too. What kind of presents do you think they got?
