Rainbow Fennec Fox Hat by cutekick

Rainbow Fennec Fox Hat

Available in my Etsy Shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/237188868/

Hats do not cover eyes. The model head is made smaller than the average human head. This causes the hat to cover the eyes and parts of the face that it will not on a person.
Patterned ears and color combinations can be applied to any style of hat, not just this one. Contact me if you would like to commission one.

I was going to post this sooner but I had friends in town and was so totally busy doing all kinds of touristy things with them that I didn’t have any time online. So now that they are on their way back home I am going to get back to posting.

I used some more of that awesome rainbow fabric I had. I just love it so much. (I ordered more…rainbow tornado skirts here we come!) I quite enjoy it in these ears. It is a real eye catcher. I can also make the hat with a black base (or really any color that fleece comes in).

Well, not much else to say about this. I am really happy with how it came out. Hope you like it too. Let me know what you think!

How are the ears standing up so straight like that? That's really impressive.

Thanks! I add what is essentially a fabric form of cartilage to the ears, along with the shape I give them this allows ears at almost any size to stay standing. With it being all fabric it allows the hat to be washable without any issue like you would get with wire or a non fabric insert.

That's really interesting. I'm the type of person to use wires to bend things into shape, but 'fabric cartilage' sounds like an easier, more manageable choice.

I don't know it if it is actually easier to use but I do not like the problems wire brings to items you wear. I don't want to have to worry about it poking someone in the head, wearing out and breaking, or rusting after being washed enough to wear down the rust resistance coating. Other things like plushies, I will use wire in because you can generally keep the pokey bit near the center where even if the padding you put around them comes undone they it won't cause a problem and you do not tend to want to wash them.

It does meant that the ears are always standing upwards though and you can't really bend one down into a flop or something. Which is a bit disappointing.
