the au I have made up some time ago.

The starting point is at some point after what currently is going on. Zovaal and Nameless are taken from the Maw and brought before a still knocked out Arbiter, the Archon, the Winter Queen, and the restored Primus for a second judgment. This kinda hinges on the Primus = Runecarver theory.

It's decided that the two will be out of the Maw, but most of their anima will be taken as reparations, weakening them to a level of the mortals. A side effect is that they’re now mortal-sized.
