Oh, this guy. Long-time followers will probably also remember Burst Fayze the Shinx. Burst is a high school freshman who worked hard and pulled family favors to get into a battle-based school to further his goals of being a professional battler. He's a naturally shy person with lots of feminine hobbies, and tries to mask it all with a quick, explosive temper. Burst was injured by a Scyther classmate in elementary school, so his right wristband (a ring of muscles that generates electricity in the Shinx family) is fitted with an adaptive device. He hopes it will heal upon evolution.

Burst's best friend is Sammy, who he takes a lot of pride in annoying. Their dynamic has changed a lot over the years, but it is same to say that Sammy is (and will always be) one of Burst's favorite people in the world. Burst was bullied when he was younger, but also has some really amazing, supportive parents. While uncomfortable around strangers and being vulnerable in general, he is very physical and sensitive with his friends, especially Sammy. Underneath his rough exterior, he is a well of fierce, unconditional love.

When I was in the PCA, he was one of my favorite characters, and I didn't feel like I got a good resolution to his, and anyone else's stories. I did finally decide to just do a soft reboot and leave some things behind just because of the level of entanglement with characters and players that aren't around anymore, so it's going to be a lot of fun redeveloping his story.
