They're both part demon, and thus in demon-esc garb, because they're normally in icy clothing, icy blues and whites are their normal clothes, so dress up is blacks and demon stuff, as I noticed how the cotillion outfits in the movie had many an accessory relating to the characters' heritage aesthetic, Mal had many a dragon thing, Evie had apples and crowns, Jane had a lot of bows, etc.
