I just had a random thought, and whilst it's very much not canon ("Whelp! here I go portraying Valerius as an abusive partner again!") tho this is much more likely than AUs I've done
The idea is, while Pirouette knows he and Valerius used to date, he's not that into it, he doesn't remember, but he's willing to try and offers to have a date with Valerius, who, in a manic try to please Pirouette, and knowing they treat Pirouette poorly, and Pirouette probably tries to reconnect with his parents recently (Pirouette probably comes home crying a lot recently, and Valerius knows, even though Pirouette only really talks about it with Lycoris, because they're the only one who won't threaten something rash and harsh, but someone heard Pirouette sniffling or saw him going home dejected and reported to Valerius) Valerius surprises Pirouette with the fact he had Pirouette's parents trapped in their house while it burns
Pirouette isn't happy about that, of course he isn't, and as much as he was abused he swears revenge
Valerius may also have had Muriel, Lycoris, Crux, and Evanna chased down and locked away, no idea

Valerius, I love you, I really do, not my type (intense stares at Natiqa) but I do love you, but Pirouette would prefer you don't take away his only support system

Pirouette can also feel the anguish of the people burning to death, and his emotions are amplified times like ten for anything, that includes him suddenly being forced to be isolated, being an emotion magician and being somewhat forced to feel others emotions unless he specifically blocks them out, he's gonna kill someone

I cannot stress enough that this is not canon, Valerius would not do this, leave him alone

Pirouette got all dressed up to go on a date and honestly he's feeling so attacked right now
