Day 2 Part 1

Place: Sand Dollar Cove

Time: Sun rise

The young mare woke disoriented and sick, sure that her head was the size of a watermelon. Someone spoke softly, the mare from earlier stood nearby quietly asking her if she was okay. It was then she realized she lay in a hammock. The rocking motion was strangely helping her stomach ache but sadly did nothing for her head. She raised a hoof to her head realizing once again that she was not who she thought she was. The confused look made the other mare speak again. “Are you going to be okay?” she handed her a small bag of ice in hopes that she would answer this time. “Where am I?” she said in a raspy voice. The salt water had done a number on her, it was a mystery she wasn’t dead. The other mare spoke again softly. “You’re in Sand Dollar Cove. Where are you from?” The young mare tried to think slowly about where she had been before she woke up but her memory was fuzzy. “I think I’m lost or I can’t remember where I’m from. What country is this?” the mare scrunched her eye brows and nose. “Country…I don’t think we have those here. This is Equestria. A large continent ruled by the keepers of the sun and the moon, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.” The younger mare seemed a little concerned and attempted to wrap her head around the predicament in which she found herself. The other mare sat down next to the hammock. “My name is Sandy Dunes but you can call me Sandy. What’s your name?” The young mare found herself lucky that she could remember her name at least. She thought for a moment when the sudden realization hit her, she couldn’t remember her name. She could have sworn she did but it was gone. She shook her head and started to tear up a little. “I can’t remember my name.” The other mare felt bad for bringing it up. “It’s alright if you don’t remember, I’m sure it will come back to you in time. Here drink this water.” She handed her a glass bottle filled with water. The young mare was grateful she had at least met someone who was nice, even if she was a pony. For a moment she wondered if she could tell the other mare what she remembered. After a few moments of silence she spoke. “Sandy, I’m a human.” The proverbial pin could be heard dropping as Sandy’s ear flicked. “Whaaaaahhh?!?!” she said in a long sound. “What’s a Human?” she said as she tilted her head. The young mare had not thought that Humans were nonexistent in this world. She simply wished to tell Sandy the truth. She proceeded to explain what she meant by the statement only to have Sandy scoff and then when she realized she was not kidding she put two and two together. No pony in all of Equestria would ever go into the ocean and certainly not at night. Sure she could have just fallen off a boat but it was highly unlikely she would have lived that long. Sandy decided however unlikely her story the young mare must be telling the truth. “Well, I do believe you. Even if it is a bit farfetched, but don’t go telling other ponies that story. Someone will likely lock you up in a ward for that.” The young mare nodded. “Also we need to get you a name. I will try to think of one for you by lunch. That way we can start introducing you to other pony folk.” She nodded again and thought quietly to herself. “Pony folk.” She thought, they must be as nice as Sandy. “Here it comes.” Sandy said as she stood and looked out to sea. The small cabana they were in had only a few walls but was open to the ocean. The young mare watched with Sandy as the sun rose in Equestria. She found herself breathless for a moment, the cold smell of the ocean and sweet grass cleared her head. It was a new day, in a new world.
