My Rainbow by Citlali

My Rainbow

Citlali

I waited for years for you to come,

A kindred heartbeat like a drum,

Through my denial, it grew and grew,

Until it popped and away it flew,

Out of control, in that beautiful spiral,

The colors and hues going viral,

Until at last I saw what I needed.

Red, for a passion and desire burning,

Orange, for a flame that needed kindling,

Yellow, for a brighter future hand in hand,

Green, for a new life in a foreign land,

Blue, for the serenity of a life in love,

Indigo, for my angel descended from skies above,

Violet, for the princess which you have saved.

Together we shine, a rainbow high,

Stretching ocean to ocean in the sky,

Showing them all we’ll make it through,

Even when skies aren’t quite blue,

An array of color, spectacularly shown,

Within us both, in flesh and bone,

Guiding us toward a dawning day.

A poem and picture, for the mate. <3
