Manticore male greeting a sphinx female, both without wings.
Seems like the manticore is picking up interest again after some time, have to dig up some drawn ones that I have on paper but my cat is sleeping on the scanner right now.

Everyone have their opinions on how a manticore looks like and I like the old version with scorpion tail and bat wings and human face to use as a reference ... not the ones that have a spiked ball on the tail end but that is me.
Mine version have a bit different tail end, more like a blade and poisoned ones along the sides that hides in the fur so even if you keep eye on the blade part, you might get scratched of the side ones.
They eat different herbs to get the venom, so the young ones need protection until they have grown to a certain age and eaten enough herbs. Since there are many kinds, not all manticores shares the same poison and so, it can be deadly for them as well. The scales are still quite moveable as on a snake even if it is alot harder along the the top of the bone structure.
