Long before she would enter the upper-most retreat, her presence was announced by the pragmatic pace of her step, and other small hints on the air.

Rolling to his other side, drawing his long tail in around behind himself as no to block the doorway, he placed down the small leather journal (detailing migrating swallow habits and life-cycle, observed this last spring-past) in a manner that reflected mock vexation.

"What turn of events has you out maraud my reading quota this time?"

"You know why I'm here," the dragoness replied as rigid in tone as the stance she presented. She was of a stockier front-heavy build with broad wings tucked either side of her body that nestled in a loose criss-crossing over her flanks.

"Your scent indeed gives away your intentions my dear," an attempt wry smile rose upon the maw he placed into claw resting on the stack of new material he had hoped to get through before nightfall. "Did not your last clutch of whelps hatch only last week?"

"Precisely why I am coming to you once again," her shoulders rolled and relaxed somewhat as she paced into the room.

"Ah. Wasting no time in your pursuit to provide more of our kind to this region, yes yes, I recall," He rose to his feet, overturning and book-marking the ledger and stretching out his legs in two strides. "a noble pledge I will not refuse, though I doubt we will ever see winged offspring my dear. If the last seven litters have not produced your.. desired results, I fear my blood to thick to have you carry such,"

She tilted her head to that mischievous angle to glare at him with a smile, as he sided up to her in the doorway "Then I guess we shall just have to keep on trying until you get it right old man,"

He chuckled a deep and throaty laugh as they exited the study and continued down the high-vaulted hallway "..as you wish my lady, as you wish~"
