old character design (Back from early 2010) I dug up when I was going through my FA account, this ones for an old character I was working on for a comic that's yet to be created...still...I really need to get on that one of these days...

Name: Rachel "Vanitas" Weston

Personality:Cold and reserved. she is an absolute demon though on the track. She's not a party girl by a long shot, she prefers to do her own thing, often times working on her board or her other toys, she prefers minimal social contact, especially after the incident with the reporters. Her entire purpose seems to be to win races and advance further. Some believe her cold personality stems from her cybernetic augments, but she claims it is purely her choice to remain alone. She finds herself doubting herself more often than she cares to admit to, sometimes feeling as though she no longer has a real purpose in life. she is a Lost Soul.

Background: twenty-three ago, during the Orion Galactic Championships, she was the lead boarded, the one marked for the win, the odds of her loss were nearly 1000:1. she was number one, top of hte heap...until the fateful race...during the last six laps, something in her board malfunctioned, causing the most devastating crash ever witnessed by Deltaboarder fans, it was a crash that would be marked in history as one of the worst suffered by any Deltaboarder. Eight vertebrae at the base of her back were completely destroyed in the impact, severing all the nerves to her legs. her legs though did to get out unscathed though, both were deemed to be irreparable. her lower arms had also been caught in the wreckage, which removed her left hand entirely and crushed her right beyond recognition. she suffered various injuries across the rest of her body as well. the amazing part, was that she was still alive through it all. she immediately underwent an incredibly risky surgery to save her life. all eight crushed vertebrae were replaced, along with a total of eight ribs, both her legs and her arms from the elbow down. she also has three implants in her head and a plate that scans don't seem to be able to pass through, why that specific plate was used, is unknown. Various crushed bones were also replaced with a Ultrium nanosteel, totaling the repairs to nearly sixty-four percent of her body, passing the forty-two mark that would make her an official cyborg.

The nickname "vanitas" was given to her when she refused newer model parts that looked 'normal', instead opting for the reminder that she was still mortal.
