Both Kioja and Sh'lainia are considered weak-blooded demons and have relatively poor health by demonic standards, which is why Sh'lainia must wear her gauntlets which help monitor her health.

The most visible aspect of this is their lack of horns, which is very rare for demons and usually a result of genetic defects. Unlike her mother, Sh'lainia actually does have horns, but they're very stunted and completely covered by her hair. If her blood was stronger they would look something more like this.
