"When I was young, my mother told me stories of spirits that lived in the trees of the Great Forest, standing as silent sentinals and watching over our people. She said we owed them a great deal, for they offered us so much and asked for nothing in return, so we should always treat them with respect. But as I stood there within those ruins, listening to the hoarse rasp of that thing breathing and the acrid hiss of it's voice, I thought that even my mother, as benevolent as she was, would not suffer the creature's company any longer then she had to."
