Originally made in 2012.

A painting to go with the word 'Hope'. It was a little tough at first, figuring out how I could incorporate Mortimer and hope in a piece. The colours I associate with hope are warm, friendly colours such as yellows and oranges. Then the character: Mortimer has had a difficult past, being evaded by both his kind as well as most other animals because he's considered a 'freak' (remember he has the ability to travel though time, which is very unusual :P) Other animals sense this weirdness, though they can't guess what exactly it is that makes them feel uneasy, so they leave him alone. Millie, on the other hand, does not. She's the first creature that could call herself a friend of Morty, and therefore means the world to him. She trusts him and can make him laugh, show him the beauty of things. She gives him hope. And she will tell him so whenever he feels bad. I imagine that's what's happening here too, she tries to cheer him up, to give him hope once more.

This was another experiment of using the original pencil sketch and colouring it digitally, I like it :D
