I did this for a midterm project back in 2014. I wanted to draw the same place during three different times of the day as practice for lighting, mood, and consistency. I drew a sketch of the scene, which I then traced onto three different sheets of paper.
For the subject, I wanted to draw the house in which my character Rhodes grew up. He lived on the dusty outskirts in a small town in the middle of a desert. His mom is an artist who makes giant sculptures out of scrap metal, and her yard is full of her odd work.
I can safely say that I hadn't drawn a twilight/sunset theme before I made this. I remember shading with a lot of purples and blues. I'd do a few things differently if I drew it today, but overall, it was a good exercise.
Markers and India ink and white gel pen. I also used some gouache for the sky.
