FBA 2013 Draft Candidate - Eli Schuck

Biography
"From the land of… well… land, and BBQ, Eli Schuck was born into a long tradition of working on the family acreage and learning the secrets of barbecue cooking that had been passed down from generation to generation. In a pastoral plot west of Lockhart, Texas, Eli from a young age, like his brothers and sisters, was required to help out with the family business, anything from picking grubs by hand from the mill fields to rinsing out the vats that cooked down their signature barbecue sauces. The simple yet busy country life appeared to be the destiny for all of the Schuck progeny.

Eli, while faithful and dedicated to his parents and their legacy, wanted something a little different. Being the youngest, Eli had less pressure on him than his older siblings who were already being groomed to take the reins for the family business. While still expected to grow up knowing the ropes in their trade, Eli had more freedom to branch out. He was the baby of the family, but I had become clear he was not going to be “the littlest”. He steadily passed many of his siblings, reaching the height of his eldest brother when he was sixteen years old, and kept growing.

In the beginning, Eli tried many sports at the pee-wee level, as many kids do his age. Nothing particularly stuck until it was determined he was going to be a pangolin of tremendous height. He quickly joined any team he could get on, of which he had few options being that Lockhart was such a small isolated town. He proved his worth time and time again, even as far back as the middle school playground, having always been the tallest on the court. Pangolins are not known for their jumping, but with long sturdy arms and huge claw rimmed paws, defending the basket became effortless at his position as a center. His ball handling left something to be desired, but it took considerable effort from the opposition, offense or defense, to strip the ball from him if he got it in his claws. He took up a lot of real-estate near the hoop and made sure everyone knew whose neighborhood they were in.

Once in college, helping Saddleback University achieve winning streaks they only dreamed of, his friends and coaches asked about his involvement in the FBA. The quiet dignified pangolin was humbled by the support, admitting to a long standing interest in wanting to join the FBA since he was little, but still felt the press re of obligation back home. It wasn’t until he got his parents’ blessings that he finally submitted his name, promising to his family and community proud, and use his earnings to help the family business in his own way."

Funny story:   pac gave me the option of drawing up any of her draft characters, and I joked, saying that Eli here would dress up as a sexy cowboy and suddenly be the #1 draft pick. Pac decided this was an ok thing and so here we are. XD
