A major theme of Kaerwyn is "found family". People from disparate worlds, cultures, and histories, bonding together to survive in an unpredictable environment. Sometimes its predicated on saving someone's life initially, but later moves beyond that. Nathan's life was saved by Ernest in a way, and he promised to help him and Caius in exchange. Over time, the feeling of debt has faded, but the emotional bond they have has endured into a lasting bond between two young adults and their surrogate father.

Caius is into video games, and has gotten Ernest into them.  Nathan, for his part, was familiar with them already, but wasn't all that great.  Still, local arcade gaming with friends is always a great time.
