Nathan was very traditionally raised, with men being chivalrous and providing for their women. It hasn't always worked out perfectly for him, but it still shows through at various times, when he gets them gifts to help protect them, practical items he thinks they needs, or things he thinks they'll enjoy. And of course, no dating man is allowed to forget the most sacred of all days in the year, Valentine's day. I mean, anniversaries and weddings, too, but missing Valentine's Day takes being really outta touch.
