Slumber

Remember oh those who voyage under the sun and rest under its shade. For there are two kinds of sleep.

The first, sought by many in the end of their daily strive, usually found in comfortable natural or hand made shelters, with the presence, care and warmth of loved ones.

This sleep, gives hope and strength to those who seek it. Another of its benefits is the regeneration of the body and its energies, preparing the seeker for a new dawn.

Be wary though because there is the other one. The one that without a careful examination may look like the first. But the difference lies in between every heartbeat, in between every silent breath.

The sleep of those whose smile no longer finds home in their faces, the sleep of those who can't find peace under the sun they walk, the sleep of those whose purpose was taken away.

This sleep, unlike the first, won't provide hope nor strength, won't regenerate their bodies nor give energy preparing the seeker for a new dawn.

The sleep to forget, is merely a door, a escape route, a dark cave. Away from everything, away from the pain. Those who embrace it, find no comfort, but to them, it is not about comfort, it is about not being.

How long this sleep may last? It is hard to tell, as every seeker is unique, however one thing can be said. Some embrace it so deeply, that their desire of not being comes true.

And so they are carried to the depths, where the sun never shows its face. This is the fate of such seekers, but please remember, that hope is generous, and like the sun, it shines upon everyone.

If one wishes to accept it, the dark cave, the escape route, and the door will no longer be necessary, and a new journey may start.

This is the first page of a story I'm writing, this story is very personal and anyone who knows me a bit might understand what it is all about. Right now the beta name is Journey, the character here was drawn before with a wolf and a doe, and they might meet again at some point. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, specially because I'm having to use extra brainpower to write, something I rarely do.
