My sister asked me if I would teach her some of the basics about drawing. It's kind of scary, because I've never taught anyone to draw before! I want to make sure she has fun, I dont want to cause her to lose interest by being too strict about foundations. I do want to make sure I'm giving her a solid foundation though, I don't want to dumb it down.

I think what I'm going to end up doing at first is having her draw some basic shapes with me, and then maybe doing some silly things like making boxy dogs. I'll try to explain how it's easier to look at something and see a simpler overall form than it is to worry about the small details.

Its really exciting for me that my sister wants to learn how to draw, my family doesn't have much in the way of artists. And she wants her kids to get in on this, too, which I'm extra happy about.
