"Gotcha, you horrid whelp!"

His sire burst forth from the underbrush, making to snatch him up in his maw. Before he could, however, the Dragon saw the other cub, and his eyes narrowed. To Dead's surprise, a protective paw wrapped around him, sliding him back away from the other ket and growling. He didn't understand. Mordred couldn't care less about him.

"Min? Where have you gotten off to?" A voice came from the other side of the clearing in the brush, and soon came a massive kadin, horned like his sire. She paused when she saw the two of them, hackles raising involuntarily. Her eyes flashed to Dead, and a look of dread passed by her face. Why? "Mordred. We'll simply be leaving now. We intend no quarrel with you today."

"Goldblood. Royal Blue," His sire spat the titles and names like curses. "Teach your cub to mind our territory."

Royal Blue stopped pushing her cub along and turned back to address Mordred. "Your territory doesn't stretch this far, Mordred. I've taught her to avoid your scent. Do I need to teach her to avoid this one's?"

His sire smiled. Dead was frightened and didn't know why. "You know that won't be necessary."
