I think I’ve already elaborated on varkhas before, and there’s an outdated reference sheet flapping around in one of my galleries somewhere, but I’m going to explain again: the varkha is a very, very primitive four-toed horse native to the region around Khazun-Aali. The species has been domesticated fairly early on, and is fairly close to regular horses as far as behavior is concerned, save for rather alarming levels of aggression. Varkhas are less likely to flee and more likely to charge, maul, and then trample the offender’s lifeless corpse into the ground.

Considering the kind of predatory animals that inhabit that particular part of the world, this is absolutely necessary.
