And although there's no real light source, is there anything I could've done better with the shading? Should I have kept the colors flat? Anything else I can improve on, too?
I think the shading looks good! The shirt could use a bit more defintion, wrinkles and such. & her hair seems to be completely devoid of shading, so look into adding some shadows there the next time you draw! The anatomy is pretty good, nothing jumps out at me as being broken :p. one thing you could work on is your lines. they need weight variation (ie a mixture of thick/thin) which, if you're using a tablet, can be easily done with a program that supports pen pressure (i reccommend firealpaca!) if you've only got a mouse, i cant help, but I'm sure there's tutorials floating around somewhere.
