The Crimson Hawk (critique requested)

This is the Crimson Hawk, Lennox's main hand weapon.

Personally, I'm a big fan of throwing axes and tomahawks, so I decided to give my character something I feel would fit him so well.

Onto the details; the metal for the blade and the handle is made of Coracinus Ferrum (Better known as black metal in Lennox's world) painted Crimson.

Black Metal was found on an asteroid descending from the 4th moon in Jupiter, that according to astronomers, broke up a few thousand years ago and landed on earth in the technological revolution in 1991. They have no real idea of whether the metal is native from this satellite or whether it came from another planet further away; the appearance of the metal raises many questions for everyone who has knowledge of it.

The company in which Lennox worked had these weapons made for their best men, and paid billions of dollars for the material. The metal is indestructible and still has properties that scientists have no idea how they work. According to scientist, the metal is so dense that it has no shine properties as it is absorbing all the light, like a black hole, however, it has an atomic makeup that maintains it stable at the edges and solid to the touch.

This properties have also been found in the Riftkinian skeletal and marrow structure, though they are not as complete and only make up a small percentage of the organic mix. The only downside to the metal it's is extreme weight under gravity. The ax weighs 50LBS, without counting the string.

The ax is weighted in the center to ease throwing capabilities, and the string is also made with black metal to allow the user to block with it.

I said too much already, I'll just let you guys tell me what you think of the design and the new way of drawing. This time I only used marker for the lineart and didn't use sketch lines.

What do you think?

nice weapon, my only suggestion would be the use of a barbed tip in place of the tassel; that way it would become a whip-axe.
