Flint Has a Crush

Two Pokemon walked down the sidewalk together, taller than everyone else out at the shopping center today. Flint, am 8-foot-4-inches tall Delphox, stood on the right with Trick, an equally tall Manectric, on the left. They were out on the weekend, exploring, shopping, filling the time. There was no way to easily be stealthy when everyone else was shorter, so instead they just focused on each other for their walk. Today was going to be a good day. The weather was great. Nothing would get in their way for this shopping trip.

“Hey, let’s go to the Magic Shop after we check the games store,” Flint said, pointing to a tabletop board game store at the end of the block.

“Alright, sounds good.”

Unfortunately, Flint was not the most observant Delphox, and prone to accidents as well. So when his paw slipped off the sidewalk and sent him tumbling toward the street, it wasn’t really a surprise. In his head Flint thought ‘Well, that’s it, this is how I die.’ He was going to fall and hurt himself, and nothing he could do to stop it.

Trick noticed though, and grabbed the Delphox’s arm with both hands, pulling the fire type closer and stabilizing his weight. It was a knee-jerk reaction, trying to save someone from being hurt. But as Flint’s center of gravity shifted again, the two male Pokemon found each other chest to chest. Flint’s back was held tightly by the electric type’s arms.

Flint yelped, unaccustomed to being the one that was saved by someone else. Typically after his growth accident, he was too large to get pulled around like this. Now, looking at Trick’s face, with two Manectric arms holding him around the back. Flint felt his heart racing. The fox’s face flushed beneath the orange and yellow fur. Trick was handsome. And large. REALLY large actually, and more obvious when the two of them were up close like this.

“Uh… You good?” Trick asked. He knew how this looked from the outside, and wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about it either. He’d done it in the heat of the moment to save Flint, but the way that the fox was reacting made him wonder what was going on in the fire type’s mind.

“Y-Yeah, doing good! Thanks for saving me there,” Flint stuttered, huffing slightly. He carefully put his own hands around Trick’s sides to get stable. Neither of them moved for a long moment, trying to decide what to do next and how they felt about this.

They carefully separated, but Flint reached down a hand to hold Trick’s hand. He was incredibly nervous. The worst that could happen was getting turned down, right? And Trick didn’t let go of him immediately after saving him from a fall. Maybe, just maybe, he could go for this?

The Manectric instead rubbed the back of his neck with that hand, looking away awkwardly. Flint had to pull his hand back quickly, hiding it behind his back to feign being nonchalance.

“So you like to uh… grow people? And yourself? What’s that like?” Trick asked, looking up at Flint.

Flint laughed, unconvincingly, to show he was acting natural and totally wasn’t trying to hold hands. “Oh, that? It’s part of what we do at GroLabs. Size magic is my specialty, mostly er, exclusively on the growth side of magic though. But why do you ask?”

“It’s just that, I know it happens a lot and you like it. Why?”

Flint had to think for a second. “I dunno where it comes from. I’ve always liked growing, seeing people larger than me, even as a Fennekin I can remember seeing that in cartoons and being amazed. Then when I started getting control of my magic that let me explore the interest in real life. I get to see cute guys getting even taller, buffing them up to the sizes they deserve to be. Gives them a confidence boost or just, helping them enjoy a new perspective. I’m so used to being taller than other Pokemon now, so it’s fun to change that dynamic-” Flint had to shake his head though. He awkwardly tried to backpedal. That was too much to reveal. “I know that isn’t really what you like, I’ve heard from Bui you prefer sticking to your normal size, even if you’re huge already. Like Manectrics are tall normally but you’re even taller compared to that, naturally, right? Hahah…” Whoops. He was blabbering again.

“Okay,” Trick said, with a small smile at the corner of his mouth. He could tell that something was flustering Flint. “What if you tried that with me?”

“Huh?”

“Yeah. I’d make an exception for you, if you wanted to try being the smaller one between us for the afternoon. Seems like you enjoy it,” Trick replied.

“Huh??” Flint repeated, expression turning into a mixture of excitement and panic. “Y-Yes? If you’re sure?”

“As long as it’s just temporary. And we can still go shopping together, exploring and adventuring.”

Flint pulled his wand, Spark, out of his tail fur and drew a symbol in the air, color floating in place behind the wand as the spell activated. The Delphox wanted to take it slow though, not abuse the trust that Trick was placing in him. Rather than only growing Trick, he instead picked a spell effect that transferred size from one subject to another. Small amounts of size siphoned from the people in this shopping center, and pushed the Manectric’s height taller, inch by inch, until Trick was taller than even Flint’s 8-foot-4-inches tall size.

“Mmmph. Is it done now?” Trick asked. “My clothes stayed on and fitting too. That’s a nice change.”

“Yeah, that’s the benefit of using magic. We can just make whatever rules we want!” the Delphox said, giving a huge thumbs up.

“Any rules we want huh. Okay. Then keep it there for now, we’ll try this out,” the now 9-foot-tall Manectric said. Flint and Trick walked next to each other, imposing enough to fill the entire sidewalk from shoulder to shoulder now. People traveling in the opposite direction needed to cross the street or awkwardly get out of the way. So this is how Bui and all his giant friends feel all the time, Trick thought.

It was an interesting perspective change. He didn’t like bending down to fit through the boardgame shop’s doorway, but Flint certainly seemed happy to watch it happen from behind Trick. Inside, the room was tall enough for him to mostly stand up, with only his head of hair fluff pressing into the ceiling of the room. Each of the shelves of board games in here reached only up to his tummy, making it feel like a model instead of an actual shop. Paying for the game was also a challenge briefly, when he realized that his wallet was now also much larger. The debit card inside wouldn’t fit their card reader, so he needed to tap to pay instead. Flint found packs of Magic cards to buy, for them to play together at Trick’s house.

Trick’s stomach growled as they started walking back to their car. Oh right, he wasn’t going to fit in that. They could handle that later. Food was the first thing to deal with.

“Do you want to grab some food before we go home?” he asked.

Flint withdrew his hand once more, as he was about to try locking arms with Trick. “Oh sure, I’m really hungry actually!” Damn, he’d have another chance later to do that though. Their day together was still long.

This time Flint paid up for their food. Potato Corner was a small stand in the middle of the shopping center, but it was also the best place to get a quick bite. A big order of fries didn’t seem quite as filling anymore though. Trick frowned at the small-looking order of fries. That could’ve filled him and a friend up before, but at macro sizes it was a snack at best.

The fox noticed how the electric-type Pokemon looked at his food, realizing without needing to read Trick’s mind that help was needed. He pulled Spark out and cast another growth spell, doubling the size of their plate of fries in an instant. “No problem at all!” Flint said. “When you have growth available for a person, everything else can get scaled up easily too.” They sat on a park bench together, hunched over slightly more than usual and pressed up against each other’s side while they munched.

On the walk back to Trick’s car, Flint took his chances to hold Trick’s hand one more time before the moment passed. “Hey Trick.”

“Hm? What’s up?”

“Could I hold your hand?” Flint asked. He swallowed his nervousness in that moment. It was better to just ask rather than try getting a chance to hold hands. No surprises this way.

Trick’s face flushed for a second, before he covered the reaction. “Uhm. Yes? If you’re sure?” he said, mimicking the response Flint had moments ago. And so, they held hands and walked back to Trick’s car. Everyone was already looking at the duo of giant Pokemon, but it wasn’t because of their public handholding. It felt kind of nice to do that out in the open, without fear. No one seemed to really mind it either. The drive home was just as uneventful. Flint enlarged Trick’s car with a similar spell, just enough for them to both fit inside. It looked more like an SUV than a sedan by the time they arrived to Trick’s home. Inside the house was… well it was going to be a tight squeeze.

“Would you mind shrinking me back down Flint? I really don’t want to break anything inside, the furniture and house itself are expensive to repair or replace.”

Flint already had his wand out. “Oh nothing to worry about, I already have a solution! Just watch this. Your furniture will be safe somewhere else and brought back when you shrink down.”

He waved his wand through the air, and the couch, the TV, the coffee table, everything in the living room slowly faded out of view with a sparkling effect, like the waving of hot air in a desert mirage. Flint just put them all in a pocket dimension for the moment.

They bent down to fit through the doorway, before Flint started up his growth spell one more time. Now that they weren’t in public he wanted to push Trick’s limits a little further. Safely, of course. The growth spell weaved around them both. Flint helped guide the Manectric to sit down against a wall with a hand on his shoulder. Once they were resting appropriately the growth kicked in until both the canine Pokemon were large enough to fill the living room while laying on their backs.

“Don’t worry, we can turn back to normal height in a moment here,” Flint said, tilting his head to rest on Trick’s shoulder. “Just wanted to try this out for a moment too.” Trick wasn’t sure how to feel about any of this though. It didn’t really hurt to do. He got to keep clothes on. None of their stuff or furniture was broken from the experience. And even if it had, Flint could fix up the damage with a single spell. He looked around the room, with a barely visible blush on his face. Maybe this wasn’t so bad.
