Took a break from character design to do… more character design? xD Namely, a redraw of this group of snowy owl warriors I made when I was around 8 or so! This seems to be some kind of TMNT meets Guardians of Ga’Hoole combo, which is funny since I only grew up with the latter. I think my interest in weapon wielding warriors came from a lot of different places from my childhood, everything from Runescape to Kirby really. The group didn’t have a name, but I’ve since named them The Snow Blades after their leader. I’ll probably make a logo for them later since I can’t help myself at this point lol

Now your immediate question is probably “how could I possibly NOT include pink and purple with these?!” Well if I recall correctly, all of the characters were originally male, and despite how much I loved those two colours, I think I still internalized the stereotype that pink and purple were “girl colours” and therefore didn’t include them. Ironic considering how much I loved Spyro, but still a hard trope to avoid as a kid at the time (we’re talking early 2000s here). Luckily I’ve learned since!

Going a bit more anthropomorphic than I usually do for bird designs allowed me to focus more on proportion and shape language, to great effect I think! I normally don't do front-on views right away either but I like that as an homage to the originals, like they're in a roll call or something.

I’ve had these in the works for a while, but I’m quite happy with them! Not sure if I’ll do anything with these characters just yet, but I think little me would have loved them, so that’s what matters. :’D Who’s your favourite? ;)
