Spider Knight by Akysi

Spider Knight

More art in between Huevember stuff! I had this going for the past few days but finished it around the same time as I did Millie's art, so might as well upload it now. This is Arack (pronounced like Eric), aka Spider Knight! I promise he's not an edgelord, he just looks like one. xD He's really just a nerd for needlework and I love him.

First draft of his backstory below if you're interested! It's a lot of words. xD

Temperamental but well meaning, Arack might seem like an “edgelord” type but is really trying to prove himself. His father King Xereth is ruler of Irivell, and his mother Emani was an advisor from their feuding neighbour Tantalus. In an effort to cover up their relationship and ease tensions between their kingdoms, the task of making amends was pushed onto Arack, as he had both Irivellan and Tantalan blood, but wanted little to do with it all. Shunned by his family for failing to perform his duty as prince and emissary between his kingdom’s feuding countries, King Xereth made a last ditch effort to appeal to his fellow kings. He summoned spirits and asked them to give Arack divine gifts as he had been given, but King Xereth’s actions angered the spirits. As a result, Arack became connected with a creature that his father despised above all others: a spider, viewing them nothing but dishonourable and disgusting creatures. Arack was denounced by his father to never step foot in the castle, or his home, again, his mother refusing to look at him after his change. But unlike most exiles, Arack’s desires relate very little to his past, save for the desire to regain his self-worth. To him, his journey from then on had nothing to do with Irivell, Tantalus or any other Eastern kingdom. His grandmother, who lived outside of the castle, took him in after his exile, but Arack knew he could not risk her being tried for housing a traitor to the kingdom.
His ability to weave his own spider silk and his time with his grandmother gave him an interest in fabrics and textiles, something he pursues in his spare time. This interest was once his livelihood, as selling what he made was his only source of income for most of his adolescent years. After settling in another small village, Arack met Dee and his companions, though their first encounter was not a pleasant one. Given his demeanour, Arack’s knitting needles are often mistaken for small weapons, and Arack was accused of stabbing a rather haughty resident of the village upon his arrival. As an outsider and travelling merchant at the time, he was an easy target for said accusations, and had very little to support his alibi. But, after he helped Dee and his teammates with the cold weather that year, Dee stood up for Arack, and later found proof of his innocence. Grateful for their help, Arack accepted Dee’s offer of defending the village from pillagers, though his role was largely a defensive one at first, using his webs for bandaging wounds or temporarily blinding an attacker.
When Snowy arrived, Arack was initially wary of him and his history with Prince Arvais, but soon warms up to him when given the chance to become a knight. Despite being a prince, Arack’s history with combat was not a strong one, favouring other activities instead. Snowy learned from Arack’s skills in needlework, and adapted them into a unique fighting style that would feel natural for him, along with finding new uses for his spider silk. Out of all of the knights in Snowy’s clan, Arack is the only one to never take off his mask. In his words, “people only see a mask, a facade, a mystery, rather than the reality of what I actually look like. At least now they’ll never know the difference.” In his merchant days, Arack wore a scarf and headband to conceal his face, which didn’t help with his shady appearance. People feared him, and even as a knight he has to face the daily challenge of being too intimidating to those he saves. Above all else though, his growth as a knight brought growth in character, and Arack is far more confident in his abilities. He is particularly fond of his cape, made from a material even he cannot identify, but with unmatched versatility. While Snowy paid top dollar for his clan’s armour and weapons, nothing could put a price on Arack’s smile that day, a rare sight even to his friends.

Dang it! Your art needs more love! I still can't believe how much effort is put into the writing, backstories and art, but everyone just seems to completely overlook it. It's just so creative! With many of your characters, I've had similar ideas and ideas not even close to what you imagine, though, either way, I still think your imagination is superior to others who have tried the same. uwu

Aaahhhhh thank you so much. ;u; <3 I know I've said this before but I really appreciate the time you take to put these lovely comments on my work. And don't sell yourself short either! Your ideas are great, because they're yours! ^_^

Oh, one more thing. Arack is just an unfortunately edgy-looking spider guy that is really just a cinnamon roll in disguise.

Absolutely aha. xD He's a little prickly in terms of personality sometimes, but overall he's just thrust into unfortunate circumstances.
