Taking a Digital Painting class while abroad. This is the first part of my final project.
Over the few weeks I have been here we have done:
2 still lifes
2 landscapes
1 eye study
1 portrait

Reference from this beautiful photograph -
http://apalkin.deviantart.com/art/--440059689

Process for this was

  1. Pencil sketch
  2. Scan and adjust proportions using reference image for reference.
  3. Create rough shadows on multiply layer
  4. Use color picker from reference to create painting pick proper colors
  5. go over areas with soft brush to add increased pinks, blues and purples to areas around eyes and cheeks
  6. Hairbrush used as well as pore brush from a set my professor provided.
  7. Shirt selected pattern from photograph and blurred it many times then painted over
  8. Lots of liquify tool to adjust eyes and lips until happy with their proportions.
  9. Final highlights added to eyes, and shine to face.
  10. Ta-DA! :3

Really proud of my progress, inspired to look at more photos for reference. Ready to go home and get to work with more traditional as well as digital possibilities. Hoping to draw dare I say... more humans? We will see. They are fun but kind of... boring. XD

Would really like to do pet portraits! Show me your cutest pet photo (any kind of animal) maybe I will select it to do a practice portrait from!!!

Thanks for looking!
