Commission for EspressoSkoonk on FA that is part of my Vulcan Automata series!

Before sunrise by at least two hours, the vulcanized skunk made their way through the soon to wake city. He being a full cyborg was not
uncommon, but to see them taking public transport was nearly unheard of. Gradually the stares died down into routine indifference, though the irregular train goer wouldn’t help but stare at the beanie and jacket clad skunk which the latter was worn to meet social expectations even if a cyborg doesn’t need pants.

From train station to main street to less busy streets that house all of the support stores that prop up the massive office complexes in the middle of the city. Not as glamorous as being front and center but that wasn’t the feel he demanded of his own pet project. He continued down past the many small restaurants, a few taking in new inventory prepping for the coming day, that doesn't quite compete as give each other as give one another personality. All specialists on their own subject but all of them this far back were intended to be savored, enjoyed, and most importantly experienced.

He slipped behind the edge of a shop, his shop, Espresso’s coffee roast. The network opened up to him taking his authentication immediately, with a habitual gesture, the side access shutter doors opened up as he approached.

Espresso walked through the threshold and breathed in as he settled into his network, as he traded out the jacket for an apron, and commanded the lights on. The tasteful warm lighting revealed his intentionally rustic, at least for today’s standards, shop harking back to before he worked for VA. It was more than a century displaced but his love for coffee was timeless.

He pushed forward to the front of the store ready to meet with the customers that always showed up in the first 20 minutes of business, the earliest birds, his friends and competitors from the same street.
