Moranalta is naturally unable to reproduce complex speech. She can bleat, and the speech function in her brain is operational, but the muscles required to reproduce the speech were underdeveloped. For most of her life she has been communicating through body language alone. This did not stop her however from studying speech itself. The device translates speech based on the movement she musters in the muscles along her larynx and is reinforced via chemical signals from the brain into a voice personally designed by Moranalta herself. It's a rather soft voice but enough to carry conversation. It doesn't mean she'll use the device frequently as she is quite shy.
