In my personal head-canon-whatever you call it space where all my general characters run around, I've always had it so that Ahrashace's connection to the rest of the group is through Sara; he met her, those two became friends, and then she brought him in with Teo and whoever else I'm scening with when all this is going on. That just raises one question, though: how did Shace and Sara meet?

This had actually been troubling me for a while, because my original answer to that came from way back when Sara was a demon. She was supposed to be a sort of succubus-like figure who visited people in their dreams, and since Shace has that whole Dream Kingdom thing going on, she got a bit more than she was expecting with him. Much awkwardness ensued, but then things went from there.

Of course, I retconned away the idea that Sara was a demon years ago, and am embarrassed that that was even ever a thing now. I'm much happier with her being normal, but ... well, in that case, how did she meet Shace, if not that? And that was the trouble I was having for a while, there.

New story: Sara happened across the Dream Kingdom by chance. Sky dragons always deliberately and lucidly go there when they dream, of course, but other creatures' dreams are completely random (and rarely even involve awareness) so they can't exactly go there on purpose. They can end up there, but it's extremely rare; it's sort of like the dreaming equivalent of banging out a random string of characters on your keyboard, that just happens to be a perfect match to the hash for the address for this place.

The Dream Kingdom is under extremely heavy guard at all times due to its fragility. There are such stringent standards for discipline and control over dream-shaping, and such demanding tests and trials to prove said control, that not even all sky dragons can actually go inside. Random other creatures who just stumbled across the front door, with no training whatsoever? Yeah, right. Fortunately, the process of being arrested and held as an intruder isn't particularly horrible for a non-sky dragon, especially since they might not be aware the whole thing even happened. It's basically, "Last night I had this dream that I was at the gates to this fluffy cloud kingdom type place, but then some dragons caught me, but they basically just tied me up and left me outside until I woke up."

Sara was in such a state when Shace, freshly asleep and thus on his way to go "log in" for studies/apprenticeships/whatever keeps him busy, happened to see her tied up outside. He knew better than to mess with anything, as the guards had the situation well under control (and he had things to go do, anyway). Still, he at least said a quick hi, and was curious enough about this mysterious visitor to look her up and meet her again later. Imagine Sara's surprise when that one busy dragon that briefly walked by in that one dream she had actually turned out to be real, and found her in real life! But then he explained, and they got to talking, and the rest is history.

Many thanks to Dagger for finally helping me close this longstanding plot hole!
