iPad Doodles by Kannos

iPad Doodles

Kannos

I have an old first-generation iPad that I sometimes use as a sketchbook. Here are a few doodles that were done entirely on my iPad using Sketchbook Pro. It's actually quite a nice little tool to have, especially when I can't lug my laptop or Cintiq around. Now if only it allowed canvas sizes larger than 1024x768, then it would be perfect!

With the exception of the eye on the right and the sketch on the bottom, these were done with the Pogo stylus. The eye and sketch were done with my fingers. The eye was drawn while I was on campus as a demo to show how Sketchbook Pro works since someone asked about it.

Wow, that’s pretty amazing in that case. Well I’ve seen art like that produced on an iPad screen, though I’m never entirely sure how you manage. I have a little sketching app called ‘Paper’ for me mum’s iPad and a stylus and even then it’s difficult to know where the strokes are going to start and painful to do little accurate movements. I’d sure like to know how you managed to produce such detail. Is it just patience? Experience?

You know I have Sketchbook Pro and a damn Bamboo stylus and I CANNOT cannot quite adjust to the big rubber erasery-like nib. I never know exactly where the line will be in the space of that stylus and often I have unconnected or awkward lines. It frustrates me so much I don't like using it.

These, though. These make me want to sit down and learn it 'cause obviously I am too lazy for Photoshop!
