Rusty, Count Rustula, the Rustafarian -- a big, beautiful mostly-if-not-all Maine Coon diabetic who shared our lives for a while. He was my "micro-lynx", despite his excess of tail.
Believe it or not, he was picked up as a stray (how anyone could have possibly dumped him is completely beyond my understanding, and I say "dumped" because he was definitely not feral) out east and was rescued on his last day. One of the greatest "people cats" you'd ever meet; he just didn't fit with our other kitties, and we reluctantly decided that he needed a new place where he could be an only cat. We found a nice retired couple in upstate New York who'd lost their diabetic Stu in 2010, and they fell in love with him just like we did. He's been through Canada twice on his travels, and he even gets to go to NYC once a month with his new family.
I miss him something terrible, but he's very happy in his new home and I wouldn't want anything less for him.
