As he stumbled through the hellish wasteland of sulphurous steam and bubbling mud, he found himself disoriented. A nod as the chemical fumes got to his head was all it took for him to lose his footing in the slick muck, plunging his hand deep into the hot volcanic sludge. He recoiled, clutching his scalded fingers, but he didn't focus on the pain long before his eyes fell upon the boiling red pool before him...

Well hey haven't posted anything since 2012 so might as well start off 2014 with some dumb flavor text.

This is a speedpainting I started working on a while back as a worldbuilding concept inspired by the "Blood Lake" hot springs of Beppu, Japan.

I may like to revisit this picture in the future, but I've just been sitting on it for a while now and not actually doing anything with it so I figured I'm happy enough with it as is to post it.
