trap-door pistol by sakroe

trap-door pistol

sakroe

this is the trap-door pistol, a mechanism and concept i've devised in my head in the last few weeks

it functions like a pump-action shotgun with the shooter loading the cartridges into the bottom of the

magazine well via a trap door. the trap door engages a series of gears which in turn push up the

remaining bullets.

pulling the trigger also engages the gears and the slide which extracts the bullet case and pushes the next

round into place via another trap which keeps the chamber closed from the magazine well.

in the event of a jam, the shooter can remove the bullet by pulling back the slide which has a finger indent,

ejecting the bullet and engaging the magazine gears to push up the next round into place.

while not quite practical as a military or police side-arm, i do see it as a potential target pistol. its easy and quick

to reload on the fly as opposed to unloading, reloading a magazine and then cocking the pistol. the downside would be it being much more difficult to clean with more working parts.

i also designed a bullet which it would fire, the centrefire, 3.9mm x12 tumbler round. its smaller than the 9mm parabellum but it has a condensed lead core, a denser lead core basically, making it heavy. the bottleneck

design ensures that the bullet is able to consistently hit a very high speed.

the whole idea here was that i wanted to create an updated luger without the folding arm mechanism. not

sure if anybody has done this type of magazine either. oh well!
