Star Trek: Night Shift

I've heard a lot of people grew up watching Star Trek or TNG as kids. Nowadays, I feel like kids watching shows that are "for adults" doesn't happen as much anymore (for a variety of reasons, including some good ones). But there are also a lot more grownups watching "kids shows" than there used to be. So I think a new animated Star Trek show (11- or 22-minute) would have a lot of potential.

I haven't seen Discovery, but I think it's cool what they're doing with the season-long arcs. This would be a lot different (shorter runtime, higher priority on reruns, broader target audience, more aliens since you don't need makeup).

I would probably set the show after Voyager, instead of around TOS, but there ought to be some homage. I drew inspiration from the DIS uniforms for the shoulders and side panels (and their colors). These uniforms could be specific to the ship (or possibly other ships like it) and officers on Earth or other planets could be wearing the uniforms you see in some of the TNG or VOY future episodes. But for the regulars, you'd want something that adjusts well to the odd proportions of cartoon characters without details getting lost.

The main characters would be the overnight bridge crew. Capt. Shelley, a reptilian female (center), operates on a six-hour sleep cycle. Lt. Commander M'Sam (right), a male Caitian, is the ship's first officer, and the human Lt. Ashley Rathipal (left) is in charge of the night shift. Their ship, the USS Paramaribo, is charged with transporting people and goods through potentially dangerous areas.
