This is a confusing Lanian insectoid critter that some tend to use in mountain regions as mounts.

Their faces stay tucked under a shell like a roach or other beetle; they have claws but they are removed if they are used as flyers.

Their colors change depending on the climate they are in and they are able to camouflage against the sky.

This one has the coloring of how twilight looks in some regions in Laynair.

don't know of the name of this critter yet and I need to doodle the head out. The front legs were supposed to look more insect like; they don't actually walk like horses but like mantis on acid.
