First Timer by reedman (critique requested)

The taxi putted along the road. A short, fluffy, hyena, was enjoying the ride. The driver, an old saurian, was chatting up his small passenger about all sorts of things.

"So how much trouble you plan on causing?"

"Whatever do you mean?"

As they came to a stoplight, the driver turned and looked down. A smile that saw through a facade.

"I've been driving all kinds of people for years. I can tell the difference bewtween someone out to meet friends, and someone out to eat friends. With the looks you've been giving that cake, I know which one you're doin'."

As the light turned green, the taxi took the next turn, coming up on a residential disctrict. Reed looked down at the large cake that covered his lap. It was a carrot cake with the sweetest cream cheese frosting. He recently conjured it up this morning with a special enchantment. Today was going to be interesting for all involved.

"Here we are sir! That will be twenty five please."

Reed reached into his pocket, handed the taxi driver his money, and smiled as he hopped out of the taxi. He looked to his destination, a simple one floor house. Keeping his hold on the cake, he managed to reach the doorbell with his long and fluffy tail.

Ding Dong

"Just a moment! I know it's you Reed!"

The door opened, and a yellow rabbit with a big smile was looking down at Reed.

"Hey Steven! How are you?"

"Great! How's my favorite midget fluffyena?"

"Wonderful. Are you guys ready to test my new flavor of carrot cake?"

"Of course, of course. Come on in!"

Strolling on in, Reed carried his special cake to the table just in front of him. Before he could even put it down, it was lifted from his grasp. Looking up, Reed saw the culprit. A very familiar black jaguar.

"Jag! Why must you try and steal the free cake?"

"Steal? Me? Never! I just wanted it to see what the inside of my belly looked like."

Jag gave a few fake chomps at the cake before setting it down. Wings, a tall horse with angelic wings, came out with came out a wedge spatula to divide it. Stevens immediately snatched it out of his hands, and sliced the cake in half to put on his plate. A certain horse and black jaguar stared at him intently as he devoured the cake he took for himself.

"Hey. I'm a rabbit, and this is carrot cake. It's only proper I get the most. Plus, Reed's cake is worth getting scolded by you guys and you know it."

Not arguing with that logic, Wings gave himself a large slice before Jag could react. The jaguar looked at his pitifully tiny slice of cake, grabbed a fork, and started eating. The room was filled with chewing and quiet moans. Each have had Reed's cakes before, but it always felt like the first time. Reed simply chuckled at the sounds of satisifed individuals. He soon heard the sound of hands patting stomachs and stood up.

"I see you all enjoyed the cake. Did you find anything wrong with it?"

Slowly standing up, Steven walked over to Reed, and tousled his hair.

"It was perfect Reed. All I wish is that I had more."

"Well I'll try for that next time. I better call a cab and get home for dinner."

When Steven hand didn't leave Reed's head, he turned back around to know why. He saw Wings standing up.

"We insist you stay for dinner. You brought us one of your famous cakes for free. The least we could do is feed you some salad freshly picked from out garden."

Trying to hide the intent in his smile, Reed gladly accepted the invite, and plopped down to watch some TV with the three.

An hour passed, and the four were watching another action movie. A wolf was trying to battle a maniacal mouse with a shrink ray. Steven was slumped in the middle of Reed and Jag, while Wings sat in another chair. All four of them were completely absorbed into the movie. Reed's cake was just subsiding in Steven's stomach when he felt the urge to stretch. Sliding out of the comfort of his two soft friends, the rabbit stepped to the side to stretch. He felt his arms and legs pop from sitting idly for so long. Jag seemed to have the same idea because he got up to stretch as well. The jaguar's stretched and yawned from sitting for so long. While stretching made him seem to pass Steven in height, the rabbit only took notice when Jag stopped stretching and was still taller. Taking notice of his new stature, Steven started to make his way to the hallway towards the bathroom. Reed was the first to notice.

"Poor Steven. He seemed shaken up about something. The cake might not be agreeing with him. I better see if he's ok."

Reed hopped off the couch, and followed Steve downt the hallway, trying to hide his smile.

"How in the hell am I shrinking this time?"

Steven was staring himself in the mirror, trying to answer his own question. He knew Jag didn't use any of his vials on him, the local magic users were all at school in another dimension, and the shrink ray was at the shop getting fixed. There was nothing he could think of that was making him shrink.

He noticed it was begining to become difficult to see himself in the mirror. He turned to grab the footstool by the door, when he bumped into Reed, who was standing in the doorway. For a moment, Steven felt relived. He was a little bit taller than Reed, but shrinking fast. The rabbit hoped this hyena could get him some help.

"Reed! I don't know how, but I'm shrinking fast! Help me!"

As poor Steven shrank past Reed's height, he saw a predatory grin, and heard a gurgling stomach. He was quickly backed into a corner, as the hyena closed in.

"You ate so much cake! I knew you would shrink, but not this fast. Honestly I planned for you all to shrink in your sleep and I would've picked you all up for breakfast tomorrow. Guess I know for next time."

"Wings! Jag! Help! Reed wants to-"

Before Steven could call out, Reed swung his tail, pinning him under a mountain of fluff, as well as muffling his voice.

"Now, now Steven, no spoilers."

As Steven was shrinking, struggling against the tail became more and more impossible. When the tail was lifted, he was shocked with how fast he shrank. Reed was huge! He towered like a macro over a city. Steven didn't have time to react when Reed grabbed him with one hand. He couldn't fight it, for the hyena's grip was too much. His warm breath hot and humid like summer.

"First course. Bottom's up!"

A scream of terror was let out by the very small rabbit, only to be silenced by the hungry mouth of a small hyena. As Steven tried to fight back, Reed would simply swallow him a bit more. Even going down the esophagus, he was still fighting. Trying to push and shove, hoping it would do something. Alas, all was in vain when he finally landed in the stomach. A muffled voice was heard, as the gasses began to make Steven sleepy.

"The good news is being eaten makes you stop shrinking. The bad news is that you'll be sleeping for a little bit."

Reed gave a few hearty pats to his stomach, which now held a shrunken rabbit.

"Don't worry, your friends will join you very soon."

Reed pulled the stool to the sink, washed and dried his hands, then left to the living room. His plan was now in motion.

The action movie just finished with the evil mouse being taken away to a tiny prison. Wings got up, starting to worry about Steven.

"Maybe I should see if Steven and Reed are ok."

"Relax Wings. Steven's probably trying to sneak some more cake out of Reed."

Before Wings could retort, Reed came back into the living room. He had a somber look on his face.

"Guys. I'm sorry to tell you this, but Steven shrank. I walked into the bathroom, and he shrank too fast for me to react. I have no idea how it happened. Maybe I did something wrong with the cake. I feel like this is somehow my fault."

Jag immediately stood up and walked over to Reed.

"Relax Reed. People getting shrunk here happens more than you think. He probably drank one of my vials by mistake. I have a bad habit of leaving them everywhere."

Gesturing to the table full of vials with red droplets in them, Jag rubbed Reed's back reassuringly.

"With his luck he'll get eaten and we'll see him tomorrow."

"Jag's right Reed. Now why don't the two of you relax while I finish up the salad?"

While Jag happily plopped back down on the couch, Reed walked right to the kitchen.

"Sorry Wings. I get antsy when food's being made and I'm doing nothing."

Not denying the extra help, Wings walked into the kitchen. He grabbed the chopped lettuce, sliced bell peppers, and cut cucumbers. Mixing with one hand, he handed Reed a large empty pitcher.

"Could you be a dear and make the fruit punch? All that's left besides that is mixing the salad."

"Of course! Always eager to help."

Pulling a step stool to the sink, Reed began mixing the water and powder for the fruit punch. Pouring some into a small cup, he tasted it. While it tasted great, he felt it needed a more equine flavor. Reed looked at Wings, seeing that he did indeed shrink, but was shrinking slowly. Reed's stomach growled, eager for the horse to be small emough to eat. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one of the shrinking vials Jag mentioned earlier. The hyena quickly poured a bit into the drink. He sported quite a large smile as he handed the cup to Wings.

"Try it Wings. I want to make sure I mixed it right."

Wings smiled at Reed as he grabbed the cup. The hyena was always a sweetheart to everyone. As he drank the fruit punch, he thought there was a familiar aftertaste, but thought nothing of it.

"Perfect Reed. This will go great with the salad."

"It'll also go great with you Wings."

"Huh?"

As Wings looked down at Reed, he saw the always familiar vial in his hand. He then looked at the now large empty cup. As Reed got bigger in comparison to himself, Wings tried to back away. Reed picked him up with one hand, as he grabbed a cup out of the cupboard. Wings kept struggling and struggling, until he noticed he was smaller than the hyena's hand. He heard a deep chuckle as his whole world was tilted, and he fell into the cup. At first, all he could see was Reed and his smile. Then, he saw the pitcher. It was gigiantic! It looked big enough to fill a swimming pool. He so desperately tried to scream, but everything went silent, except for the sound and feeling of a waterfall of fruit punch. It whirled around and pushed the helpless horse every which way. Even when the pouring stopped, the current was still pushing him in a circle in the cup. Taking a moment to breathe, he made the mistake of looking up.

"I told you. You look like you'll go great with this punch."

Reed's entire face filled Wings' field of view. All he could see was a giant smiling hyena.

"Second course! Incoming!"

Reed tilted the cup, sending a torrent of fruit punch at Wings. Disoriented, he didn't see that he was swimming straight towards the throat he wanted to avoid at all costs. The feeling of being gulped down caused a scream of terror through the fruit punch as he landed in the stomach of his predator.

"ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz!"

He looked around in the stomach to see a floating Steven, who didn't shrink nearly as small. Crawling on top of his friend's stomach, wanting to relax, he knew fully well a third guest was coming soon.

Jag was completely absorbed in the finale of the movie. The city was the size of a grain of rice, and the wolf was trying to run from a now giant mouse. He was eagerly waiting for the conclusion when he saw Reed out of the corner of his eye, carrying a large salad bowl and pitcher of punch. His stomach was rumbling, Pausing the movie, he walked over to sit next to him at the table. Reed chuckled as he poured a cup of punch to Jag. The poor victim was too encapsulated by the salad and punch to notice he was becoming smaller by the moment.

Jag was so eager to get back to the movie. He eagerly wanted to get back to watch the ending. He ate the salad and drank the punch as fast as he could. One victim was swallowed whole, a second one was swallowed in someone's drink. and the third was about to be eaten with a bowl of rice while on a dinner date. He imagined the victim would be eating his food, not paying attention to his loss in size until it was too late.

Chugging down the last of his punch, he turned to ask Reed what was taking Wings so long. Reed was sitting on the edge of the table, giggling at him.

"Where's Wings? What's so funny Reed?"

"The answer question one is simple. He's floating in my stomach right about now. Got hungry and used one of your shrinking vials."

"Strange. Never picked you for the pred type."

"How many herbivores have eaten you again Jag?"

"Good point."

As Reed placed a surprisingly strong hand on Jag's shoulder, he came closer to his face with a disturbing smile.

"To answer your second question, it's funny you're just seeming to notice that everything is bigger."

Though Reed and Jag matched in size, the hyena was superior in strength. As the jaguar tried to escape, the giggling predator had a moment of revelation.

"You know Jag, someone also told me I wasn't the pred type a week ago. Of course I turned him into a cake and ate him, but he did get me thinking. I've never done the predator thing, mostly because I don't have the body for it. I figured a bit of my magic as well as some free cake could get me anyone down to a delicious size."

At this point, Jag was trying to get out of the hold of the now giant hyena. His large eyes seemed to gloss over, filling with an instictual hunger, rather than the soft and kind eyes of his cake making friend. The giant teeth playfully chomped at him a few times before lifting him high in the air. The hyena's hot breath filled Jag's nose completely.

"Come on Reed. Why don't you grow me back, and we go eat some people?"

"Nah. I'm too hungry now."

With one flick of his wrist, Reed sent the tiny jaguar right onto his tongue. He flopped him around on his tongue to get a taste as well as keep him from getting out. As he slowly swallowed, Reed felt a tingling sensation unlike anything he ever felt before. The tingling was full body. It was indescribable.

"The feeling of a successful hunt."

Reed rubbed his stomach a bit, feeling some movement of his new occupants.

"Thanks for the food guys. I may to shrink you guys faster next time. Guess that'll mean more cake."

After hearing tiny muffled cheers form his stomach, Reed laughed raucously. He grabbed his cell phone and sent a quick text,

Half an hour passed, then a horn honked. Reed rubbed his stomach, long since digested his friends. He walked to the cab outside. Getting into the car, he saw the same saurian from earlier today. He turned, looked down at a hyena's slightly pudgy stomach, then spoke.

"Where to? Also, how'd your friends take to being eaten?"

"Home, and they took it as expected. It was my first time, so I may have been a bit overzealous."
