2015 - A Close by DarkOverord

Well given it's the end of the year and suchlike I feel it's only fitting to get something up to date on here. First of all, link reminders:

Phew, that out of the way we can focus on the year. To those following the 365 soon to be 366 blog you will know I've been pretty busy! To those that don't, well I recently posted the full 365 thumbnail image so you've got that. The 365 challenge was honestly a great thing for me and my attitudes to my art. I've stopped considering things "unfinished" as it were, which used to be a major hindrance.

How I used to operate was that I would draw a picture and attempt to see it out to a fully shaded picture. This ruined me. You might not think it, but it really did, I'd be reluctant to draw new things because I had this looming "Why? You've not finished X yet, or Y, or Z, or [n] yet" and I'd just guilt trip myself to laziness. With the 365 challenge, due to it's nature of just merely drawing one item a day be it sketch or fully shaded, meant I couldn't linger on past images.

Now this could be seen as a bad thing too, I've had people comment "Oh when will you finish this" and be rather disappointed when I respond "well I won't, it's just a sketch". It could also be seen as valuing quantity of quality (which is obviously not the case as I view my online galleries as places where I prefer to post items unlike my blogs where I'll post anything). So on and so forth.

But with it brought improvement, and if drawing a lot of shitty things is a bad thing then that's the price I'd rather pay. Except not really, drawing a is a skill, you need to keep at it to improve, even if you think it looks awful, the act of drawing regularly will improve you, it's basically a good price to pay :V

Which brings me to 2016. You'll notice I've already set up a 2016 folder, I'm going to be renaming my 365 blog to 366 (though the URL will stay the same because that's waaaaaaaaaaaay too many links to update). The plan for 2016 is to do an "update a day" instead of a drawing per day. 365 ate a lot of my time and I have some projects I'd like to do. So if I do a project (E.g. updating my ref sheets) I'll either post an update of that, or do a new drawing. This way I keep active artistically and I can do things I've been wanting to do for a while.

So yeah, woo lets step in to 2016 positively!
