My rant about weight shaming, and being an overweight US citizen by RetroTheAngelDragon

This is something that a ton of people don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, BEING FAT IS NOT HEALTHY! Being fat f***ing sucks, and trying to lose weight is the best thing you can do for yourself. Eating healthy and working out is the BEST PHYSICAL OPTION for you. I as an obese person living in the USA, can say that I am not proud of being the weight I’m at, and you shouldn’t be proud of killing yourself with food. I am 5’11” and 280, and I can openly admit that I am unhealthy. There’s no covering it up, I am fat. I wish I was thinner, and I’m working to get there! Stop feeling bad for yourself! Stop trying to justify your unhealthy weight, you’re literally killing yourself with food!

Fat shaming and skinny shaming are not okay either, making someone feel bad about their weight isn’t nice. It hurts people, and I feel like that’s why there’s so much hate and shame on the subject of weight. Instead of making fun of someone, why don’t people give each other support, offer to go to the gym with them, go on a diet with them, maybe go for walks daily with them, because I know first hand that when you’re trying to lose weight you need tons of support. You feel embarrassed being around people who are more fit than you are, and you feel like a giant blob when you’re working out. Eating is another story, I’ve always been discouraged to eat in front of people because I always used to feel like I ate way more than other people.

DO NOT TELL SOMEONE THAT THEY ARE TOO FAT OR TOO SKINNY, the reality is that they already know, they look in the mirror, they can SEE that. There’s no need to make them feel insecure about it. Instead of raising people to be victims, why don’t we teach people to be proud to be healthy, to not fear exercise and healthy foods. Not to fear ridicule from others for being different, but to embrace some constructive criticism, and support from others. Because in all honesty, shaming doesn’t help, complaining doesn’t help, and being the victim doesn’t help.

You know what does? Acting on it. Being a better you.
