(Copying here from tumblr because I feel like this needs to be said, due to some comments on one of my art pieces recently.)

I am so fucking sick of “not all cops.” Did you hear any fucking police speaking out about Mike Brown? About Sandra Bland? About Rekia Boyd or Mya Hall or Tamir Rice or any of the other literally hundreds of names I could list here? Do cops in these videos of police brutality that we see over and over, every day struggle with each other? Do they try to stop the violence?

Where are the “good cops” when black kids are getting punched and thrown to the ground for jaywalking? Where are they when black people are shot just for being nearby? Where are they when those officers that do the shooting get to walk off scott-fucking-free?

And before anyone starts with this “but they’d be fired” bullshit - so what? What kind of piece of utter dogshit do you have to be to look the other way while people are being killed in the streets by your immediate coworkers, as an approved part of the job because you don’t want to find another career? Additionally, by saying that a cop would be retaliated against for speaking out about racist policing, you have to also acknowledge that the system as well as most of the people employed by it are racist… otherwise, he’d have back-up from fellow officers, others in the department, etc.

So, yeah, when I say “fuck the police,” I do mean all of them. Fuck the cops. Fuck police. And fuck the departments who employ them. They’re all culpable.

So before you want to jump on my ass for saying "stop defending cops," maybe you should consider what it is you're defending. If you need some shit to meditate on, here (trigger warning for violence, death, guns, etc). Wade through that shitfest, think about the pain and rage people you're trying to silence are enduring, and shut your fucking mouth.
