Furry Migration 2: Back to Migration overview by RentonTBuck

After getting back from Furry Migration 2015 the other night, I must say that I really had a great time attending it. I got to perform, I got my pictures taken, it was a blast.

I arrived at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis around 10 AM and went in to get myself registered and retrieve my con badge. Then I brought my belongings up to Drake McCloud and Norm''s room to drop them off before I would head back down for rehearsal for the Fursuit Dance Expo later that night.

From an opportunity advertised by Sike Banana on Twitter, I had volunteered earlier to help out and dance at the very end of the Expo. She and Drake would dance together to one song for a couple minutes before a record scratch could be heard, and that was my (and many other fursuiters) cue to run up to the stage and dance to a fast-paced version of "Banana Phone," which is meant to catch everyone in the audience by surprise.

After rehearsal, I ate a quick lunch which I brought from home before I would get into my fursuit for the parade. After being in my suit with a huge crowd of other furs, I was beginning to grow quite hot, but I kept my endurance up during the parade itself and the group photo afterward. I even got to meet some interesting furs I had not met before (though I can't remember their names at the moment; one I recall was a doe who carried an archer's bow around with her, and another was a caribou in a hockey jersey).

Once the parade and group photo event was over, I went back up to the hotel room to clean my suit, which took quite a while. Then I went back down to attend the panel called "Fursuiting and Acting," which turned out to be a good panel, offering tips about getting a suit and how to perform in it properly. Then I checked out the Artist's Alley and bought a tagua pendant (with a deer on it, of course) from Foxfeather and a couple adult comic books drawn by Kadath and Kaylii.

After becoming aware that the Studio Photography sessions would run pretty much all day long, this was my chance to get some pictures of me in suit, so I got back in suit again to do a personal photo session with Shadowquine, and that went well. I'm hoping to see my photos posted online in a few weeks. As soon as I was finished, a couple other furs I knew (including Nauta) had asked me if I pose before a fake exterior front of a Delorean and pretend to get run over, which turned out to be quite hilarious (the Delorean set was part of the theme for this year's Furry Migration). I even got a chance to meet Jaiyadwoof briefly, and that was awesome. ^^

Norm and I didn't have supper plans when I first came over to the con, though I did bring up the idea about us ordering in pizza. We tried calling this one pizza place that offered great deep-dish pizzas, but they could only do carry-out and not delivery. Figuring that I wasn't all that hungry at the moment, I was able to have some granola bars I brought with me to tide me over until the expo. In the meantime, I was able to kill some time by exploring the hotel itself, take some photos of other furs in their suits, and watch some TV.

8 PM was when the Fursuit Dance Expo occurred, and after 15 amazing fursuit acts (hard to believe how much energy the performers had despite possibly being very hot in their suits), that was when I had my chance to do the "Banana Phone" bit, and that went very well. I got to take home a free glowstick as a personal prize.

After a long day and giving thanks to Racket and Sike, it was time for me to head home. As soon as I got home, I cleaned my suit once more and did my laundry.

It was a great Furry Migration; I can't wait to see what the con has in store for next year. :)
