Alright, this is going to come off as a dumb question but...

Why Exactly Is There A Set Date For Bowser Day?

I'm serious by the way. I like Bowser, he's a cool and somewhat evil but just overall awesome kinda reptile. That being said, uh, why did we set a date for him again? I know I missed something so I just wanted to know why the beast gets a set day in August? If anyone knows, by all means let me know.
