How to Furry 3.0 interest journal by Rob Swanson

I think that I'll finally have some time tonight to start working on version 3.0 of the "How to Furry" guide. As always, I'm looking to see if anyone is interested in contributing as an author. I won't claim to know everything about the furry fandom, so that's why i'm looking for people to add their perspectives. Please leave a comment on this journal if you are interested in contributing to this project.

It's worth noting that this iteration of the project will be seeing this guide leaving the "being developed" stages and entering the "presentable and well developed" stages. What does this mean to anyone reading this? Well, once version 3.0 is complete I'll feel comfortable showing it to people in earnest. In addition, once it has been completed I'll consider it to be a somewhat definitive and go-to guide for the fandom.

Aside from development, I've been noticing the amount of views that version 2.0 of this guide has been receiving. As of right now, it's at 158 views. Considering how I have about 15 people following me here on weasyl, that's a lot more than normal. Especially for the short-ish period of time that it has been up. The crazy thing is that I haven't really been telling people about it. I mean, other than the people directly involved in the project, everybody who's viewed this have either stumbled across it or sought it out. I can't help but think what kind of attention this would receive if I had posted links to reddit, FA, or other places where it might have a larger audience. I bring this up because it's just kind of weird for me to think about this stuff. Outside of this project, I haven't really created any content within the furry fandom. I'm not an artist or a writer (of fiction) so this project is the only thing I feel like I've added to the community. It feels strange that this project has gotten as much attention as it has.

In other news, I've been entertaining thoughts about monetizing this and/or future versions of the guide. I'm not really sure though if it would be the best idea or how it might work. Would people be willing to pay to have their stuff featured in a guide to the fandom? Would selling physical copies be worth the effort? At this point i'm just not sure and haven't really made any decisions. I'll probably make a decision based on the feedback people provide.
