I have contacted them, and spoken to several representatives. I have been told that the blood work is not covered in this case because they do not cover hormone therapy treatments for people of my age unless it is life threatening. I have filed a complaint, but I'm not sure that will go far.

That's bullshit. I'd keep on that complaint relentlessly. Honest to god..I despise insurance agencies.

Have you tried filing a complaint with your insurance company? If they usually cover this sort of thing, there's no reason why they shouldn't cover this visit as well.
