Kain is a self proclaimed adventurer, going around places and seeing what there is to offer. He also knows a little bit of magic (mainly wind and lightning-oriented magic)

he overhears from someone that there is an old tome full of all sorts of different magic, incantations and other things of the sort located in an old place. (Still deciding whether it should be a mansion/castle/palace or some kind of ruin) so he goes to check it out.
He finds said book and leaves with it, not knowing who or what else might want to get their hands on it.
